Hope this helps!! :)How can I make an Alice in Wonderland party?
Cut out love hearts and clubs shapes of playing cards and dangle them from the ceiling.

If you really want to splash out you can buy large plastic flowers from garden centres.

Set out a table with teapots and cakes, buy a costume of ebay have fun.
depending on your style, maybe go for something like what Avril Lavigne wore in her music video Alice. It would definitely be tea-partyish. Look it up, go to http://www.alice-in-wonderland.net/mad-t鈥?/a> for tons of awesome ideas!!How can I make an Alice in Wonderland party?

this is just the first site i clicked on but if you look up 'alice in wonderland theme party' you get a ton of hits.

in your gift bags, one obvious item you could throw in is a deck of cards. since the movie recently came out, you might be able to find some promotional items somewhere. stores like hot topic tend to have movie-themed merchandise. i know the nail polish brand OPI came out with a line of polishes for the movie with colors called Absolutely Alice and Mad as a Hatter, etc., if you wanted to give those away.

find some fun recipes for cakes, and you can cut them into squares and write "Eat me" on them. also, of course, you will probably want to serve tea, or at the very least have a bunch of tea pots around for decoration.

all of this will depend on how much you want your budget to be for the party. if you wanted to get a bartender, or have a friend or family member serve as bartender, you could make colorful drinks like shirley temples, etc. if anyone there will be drinking alcohol and you want to serve it, there are a lot of fun colorful cocktails you can find recipes for. many of them can be made with virgin recipes too.

there are some obvious ways to go with the invitations. write something like 'Don't be late for a very important date!' You can also refer to the party as your Unbirthday Party. Or, since it actually is your birthday, you can invite everyone else to come celebrate THEIR unbirthdays at your birthday party.

if you wanted to organize some activities, you could have someone there running card games, croquet games, etc. you could also buy or make a bunch of ridiculous hats and say the mad hatter donated them to the party. or maybe even gather a bunch of crazy materials and tell everyone to make/decorate their own hats. you can have a costume contest, if you want everyone to come in their best costumes. you picked a great theme, because you can really do anything you want with it.

as for the outfit, i guess it would depend on how dressy or casual you want the party to feel, what time of day it is, the location, etc. you want to be comfortable so it's easy to have a good time. i assume you want to dress as alice. i would probably just go dress shopping (it's still prom season so there will be a wide range of styles) and look for a cute blue party dress. you can wear a black headband in your hair if you want. the other option would be to dress as a sexy queen of hearts, and find a red or red and black dress. you could wear red or black heels and find some red or black heart-themed costume jewelry. but yeah you might have some luck finding a good dress for either of these just looking among the shorter dresses they have around the prom sections in the mall.

hoped this helped a little, and you should definitely look around more online, because there seems to be a lot of stuff out there to help you with this. good luck and happy birthday!

What are some characteristics of Alice in the book Living Dead Girl?

To people who have read the book "Living Dead Girl" by Elizabeth Scott, what do you think are some words to describe Alice? What are some characteristics of Alice in the book Living Dead Girl?
I haven't read it, but I did check out the summary. I found it to be rather strange. I'm not sure if the girl Ray has kidnapped in truly aware as to what awaits her. He has killed before and because his last victim no longer had a childlike body. He has now forced Alice into finding another child to replace her when her body begins to blossoms. The only characteristic I can imagine she might have is that of a trapped animal, knowing that it is going to die as she grows older and loses her child-like demeanor. Her fear of the unknown keeps her trying to survive the ordeal. What are some characteristics of Alice in the book Living Dead Girl?
that answer s COMPLETELY untrue!!!!!

鈾?Bubastes, Cat Goddess鈾?knows nothing about alice!

I want to know this too.

How will Alice end up down the rabbit hole?

I am doing Drama for GCSE, and we have substantially cut the script to 25 minutes. However, we do not know how Alice will end up down the rabbit hole, as our play thus far begins in the Duchess's house (with the baby pig). Without using the white rabbit, how will Alice end up in Wonderland? How will Alice end up down the rabbit hole?
the rabbit hole is metaphorical, the falling sensation is the same you would experience if you feinted (or passed out due to taking opiates in Carolls case!) so you could just have her trip, pass out, lights out on stage, she comes round in wonderland. How will Alice end up down the rabbit hole?
Its all metaphorical so she wouldn't really!

Was the original story of Alice in Wonderland really written by a girl who was raped?

My fiance told me that he heard that Alice in Wonderland was originally a story written by a girl who was raped by someone named the mad hatten, and she wrote these stories to escape the reality of it. He also said that Disney then took her story and published it into a book/movie. Although this seems interesting and a little believable because Walt Disney was a disgusting man, it also sounds like a rumor. I looked it up on wikipedia, and it didn't say anything about this. Had anyone heard of this? Was the original story of Alice in Wonderland really written by a girl who was raped?
No. Not at all....

Where the hell did he get that from/

The book was written by Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson) a Victorian gent, a great writer, mathematician and photographer.

The book is linked to Alice Liddell: Its said that the book was inspired by the little girl, although it's also said that he's denied claims that the book was based on her.

Having said that, he hand wrote and illustrated a copy of the book: titled to her 'Alice's adventured underground' and gave this copy for her to keep. You can buy copies of the book (photographed obviously) from the British Library.

Alice Liddell was a friend of the family, and he used her as a model very offen in his photography.

Today: after his death, rumours of Charles Dodgson being a peadophile emerged. As he has a few nude photographs of children that he had taken (although, many famous Victorian photographers took these kinds of photos at the time: they represented innocence). Then his relationship with Alice Liddell was questioned. But there is absolutely no evidence that he was a peadophile, but his apparent lack of adult relationships only gave some people more evidence that he was in love with Alice Liddell.

There is also no evidence Lewis Carroll was on drugs when writing the book.

And disney did not invent Alice in Wonderland.
Actually the story was based off of a girl doing shrooms to get to "wonderland" and while she was messed up on drugs she got raped but someone she called the mad hatter. a lot of the kids storys are based off of grusom stories and are sugar coated and used as kids stories.

Was the original story of Alice in Wonderland really written by a girl who was raped?
Um... Alices Adentures in Wonderland, is a book written by Lewis Carrol (sorry if I spelled his name wrong). Like most disney movies they took their idea for a movie from a "well known" book, often a childrens story. Alices dventures in Wonderland was not written by a "girl that was raped". And, also, it was written quite a while ago. I just wanted to let you know the context of your words here: "...and she wrote these stories to escape the reality of it. He also said that Disney then took her story and published it into a book/movie." make it seem like Disney made it into a movie soon after the book was published, which is not the case at all. It was published in like... 1865 I think...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice%27s_A鈥?/a>
Ok I have read the two books on "Alice" by Lewis Carrol and this is so false. Lewis Carrol wrote the books because he had split personally. He would have nightmares and Alice was the girl who saved him in is dreams. She was made up. So by helping him, he wrote the "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" about her.

The movie version, was written by a man who was on acid. That is way it is really colorful. Was the original story of Alice in Wonderland really written by a girl who was raped?
I really don't know if that is true because I know Alice in Wonderland was written by Lewis Carrol and he is a guy. And he came up with some of the characters because he suffered from migraines and that causes vertigo.

And he came up with it in 1862. He was a Oxford Mathematician.
Your fiance is a liar , feeble minded, or completely ignorant of the world. I'd suggest checking to see if he is an out patient from a mental ward. Disney used Alice in Wonderland in a movie for the same reason it selected most plots, it was in the public domain and as such required them to pay no royalties.
... =|

Alice in Wonderland was written by Lewis Carroll. So 'Alice' obviously didn't write these books.

Lewis Carroll was this creepy author who got hopped up on Acid one day and decided to write a trippy novel about this 7 year old girl who was his neighbour's kid. Her name was Alice, and he was in love with her.

That is the TRUE story...
my law teacher said it was originally written by a man who was against the political system in britain at the time. thats why there are some references to the cruelty in the book, like when the queen (?) says, "off with their heads!" even though she hadnt heard them out.
Alice in Wonderland was written by a man under the name Lewis Carroll in the 1800s. He based the main character, Alice, on a little girl named Alice Liddell. Later, Disney decided to make it into a movie.
I'm gob-smacked by the number of people who think Alice in Wonderland is a Dsiney story.

It's the same with snow white.
I heard that it was written by a guy on drugs. But I have no idea if that's true.
YESSSS ITS TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!! WALT DISNEY WAS SOOO PERVERTED HE JUST HAD TO JUMP ON THIS ONE!!!!

What are some interpretations of Alice in Wonderland characters?

I am writing an Alice in Wonderland story but I am a bit lost on how I should go about the characters.

I am thinking that the story should be modern, so how could I modernly represent The Cheshire Cat, The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, etc?

Thank you! :)What are some interpretations of Alice in Wonderland characters?
Well, the Queen of Hearts would be cool as maybe a woman that keeps getting into love affairs with many different people and none of them work out. The Mad Hatter could be tough though. Maybe one of those street artists that has gone mad? That last one wasn't the greatest idea, but it could work. And the Cheshire Cat could be a cat that keeps getting face transplants. (again, not a brilliant idea, but it's something.) Sorry, I'm not good at this sort of thing but I thought I could be helpful and give you at least some ideas. What are some interpretations of Alice in Wonderland characters?
Mad Hatter = Alice's father...always looking for adventure and not conforming to this mundane and conformist world. Y'know...special and caring, mad and adventurous. It shows how, in this society, going after your dreams and standing for what you believe means you must be mad but your just you...

I was think about it and...BAM! It came to me.

I live near a pottery place called Harry the Potter, so I think it would be cute if the Mad Hatter in your story was a shop clerk/hat salesmen named Mad (or something...) with the store called Mad the Hatter. Get it? :D

The Cheshire Cat could just be an odd cat I suppose...Yeah, I don't know about any of the other characters.
with Alice in Wonderland it is always up to the creator to make the story because more so than other stories it is your dream.Alice in Wonderland should be filled with you not others.

    Film:

1.It changes the opening real world scene from Alice and her sister sitting at a riverbank to Alice in her bedroom, reluctantly practicing the song "Cherry Ripe", which she is expected to perform at a garden party.

2.The film borrows a lot from Wizard of Oz.How does the original Alice in Wonderland book differ from the movie adaption?
The only thing that happens in the first Alice in wonderland is she goes to wonderland (they called it something different in the book, but I forget what) and she goes to all these random houses. And 3/4 of the book is her eating different food trying to get to the right size. Then she goes to the castle. That's it. But I've never seen the 1999 movie, so I don't know how they're different. sorry. How does the original Alice in Wonderland book differ from the movie adaption?
It's more creepy? The lighting portrays a creepy atmosphere and the story-line is WAY different because she goes back to wonderland and she's not going there first time....

What Chapter In Gakuen Alice Does Mikan Sakura Transfer To The Dangerous Ability Class?

**PLZ READ**** I am currently reading the Gakuen Alice manga and i saw the anime. I was reading about the characters on wikipedia and it said that she is transfered to the Dangerous Ability Class. I was wondering what chapter that was on. I am on chapter 71. And so does that mean Sakura has to go on them missions like Natsume does/did?What Chapter In Gakuen Alice Does Mikan Sakura Transfer To The Dangerous Ability Class?
It's chapter 96 PAGE 23 (In manga fox) that they tell her she'll transfer into the Dangerous ability class. She's considered the elementary school principal's "favorite" so he definitely going to use her Alice. She really never gets to have a chance to go on a mission since she escaped with Natsume and the others. But I'm not gonna spoil it for you! (I couldn't wait I skipped to chapter 90 from chapter 73 then went back lol ) :-) Enjoy Gakuen Alice like i did :-D Also I LOVE THIS CHAPTER and the one before!

I think the fourth because it was Edward, Esme, Rosalee, Alice, Jasper, but Emmet is in ther somewhere.
    1. Carlisle

    2. Edward

    3. Esme

    4. Rosalie

    5. Emmett

    6. Alice

    7. Jasper

I'm putting Alice first, because she knew about them before Jasper did. Or, you could think of it without Carlisle, and then Alice would have been 5th.
    6th
Carlisle was the first. He bit Edward, Esme, then Rosalie. Alice and Jasper found each other then went to Carlisle, and I don't think the books say whether Emmett was found before or after they arrived.

How come Jasper and Alice can use their vampire powers on Bella?

Jasper can change Bella's mood as seen on New moon. Alice has been seeing future events of Bella in all movies. How come Jasper and Alice can use their vampire powers on Bella?
Alice and Jasper's power act on real things whereas Edward, Jane and Aro's powers work within the mind. Alice doesn't see people's decisions, what she sees is their outcomes in reality. Similarly Jasper doesn't exactly work on people's emotions, but on their symptoms in the body (heart rate, endorphins, and so on). Bella is only impervious to the invasion of her mind.
"Edward or Aro can't acess Bella's mind cuz' their powers work mentally and Jasper's powers work emmotionally. So basically, Edward or Aro can only work from people's minds and that is where Bella's power resides, but Jasper's power is able to work with emmotions that come from the heart. So is power is not mental, it's emmotional. So that's why Bella's shield doesn't work with Jasper's power.

Emotions are physical and her shield is mental."

Team Jasper, baby! :DHow come Jasper and Alice can use their vampire powers on Bella?
Jasper and Alice can use their powers on Bella becaus they are not invading her mind. That's why Edward, Aro and Jane can't use their powers on her because they hve to invade her mind Jane can't use her power of Bella because she's makes people THINK that they are in pain when they are not etc and Bella has that shield thingy.

It's something like that. It says in the book I think been ages since I read them lol.

    : )

    Xx
Bella's shield is only for her mind. While powers such as Edward's, Jane's, and Aro's effect the mind, powers including Jasper's and Alice's do not. Their powers effect her body and manipulate her surroundings but never disrupt her mind. How come Jasper and Alice can use their vampire powers on Bella?
It doesn't have to do with invading/ changing her mind. I guess changing her mood has to dowith her heart...

What is a clever name for a literary analysis on Alice's Adventures In Wonderland?

I have written a literary analysis on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for my English 1 class, and we are supposed to have a title for our paper. The title should be creative and can not be "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland", "Literary Analysis", or "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland Literary Analysis." Thanks in advance. What is a clever name for a literary analysis on Alice's Adventures In Wonderland?
It is a bit hard to answer this question without knowing your focus but...

Down the Rabbit Hole: (insert a *brief* statement about your paper)

EX: Down the Rabbit Hole: An exploration of the role of the Rabbit in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Seeing the World Through the Eyes of Alice: (brief statement as above)

A World Unknown: examining Alice's adventure down the rabbit hole

...again sort of hard to suggest things without knowing what your paper is focusing on but hopefully those will at least get you started in the right direction. :)
I don't know what your analysis states... Alice in Wonderland was using allegories to show absurdity in childhood. Her fear of growing up and taking on responsibility (she fell asleep, was dreaming lazily as her teacher was trying to tutor her.....) 'Young %26amp; the Restless'? 'Youth wasted on the Young'?

What are you trying to state? What is a clever name for a literary analysis on Alice's Adventures In Wonderland?
Damn! That first answer is the right one.

Did you know that Lewis Carroll was a child molester??!! There was a write up about it in Scientific American several years back.

  • Why doesnt Edward want Alice to tell Bella something about the Diamond he gave to her?

I dont understand why Edward hushes Alice in Eclipse page 467 about hte diamond. Which later on Bella discovers why when she is walking with Jacob to the hideout.

I dont understand more specifically dont want to come to a wrong conclusion. Someone help please? Why doesnt Edward want Alice to tell Bella something about the Diamond he gave to her?
    Heyah =] ..

Basically Bella thought that the gift was a crystal - that it wasnt worth much.

Then Alice began to say something about diamonds and how he "already had one on ...". Then Edward hushed her because she was gonna say "on her".

If she had said it, Bella would know that the crystal was infact a diamond and very expensive and therefore she wouldnt want it from Edward.

Bella only figured out that it was a diamond when Jacob said "A rock - figures".

(To many, people refer to diamonds as rocks.)

I hope this is what you are lookin for!

    Lx
Because as Bella explains to Edward in the beginning of Eclipse she feels like she doesn't deserve him already so when he does nice stuff or her or buys her anything it puts them more out of balance. The only reason she accepted the bracelet was because he convinced her it was just a hand me down and she thought it was crystal. If she had known it was diamond she would've freaked out and refused it. And Edward hushed Alice because she was about to reveal that Edward already had a diamond on her [the bracelet]Why doesnt Edward want Alice to tell Bella something about the Diamond he gave to her?
edward didn't tell bella because he knew that she would refuse, for the diamond was realllyyy expensive and is probably worth a lot more now that it's a family heirloom. she would most definitely refuse to wear it. i think bella probably thought she would lose it or something like that if edward actually told her the truth.
there was a diamond in the charm that he put on her bracelet. yeah that was confusing to me the first time i read it too. He didnt want alice to tell bella either because bella always feels bad when he gives her nice stuff. Why doesnt Edward want Alice to tell Bella something about the Diamond he gave to her?
Edward doesn't want Bella to know that it is a very expensive diamond, because he knows that she would refuse it if she knew. She's considerate like that.
It probably is because it is a heirloom and there are secrets about it.

What edition of Alice in Wonderland pop up book in shown in the Simpsons?

In one of the episodes of the Simpsons, Homer bought a pop up Alice in Wonderland book for Lisa. My gf had the same one when she was a little kid. Anyone knows what version is it or where they might have it for sale? What edition of Alice in Wonderland pop up book in shown in the Simpsons?
I think Ive seen every simpsons episode but that doesnt ring a bell. In the episode "Summer of 4 Ft. 2" Lisa is almost lured into a library by Alice until she shows that the Mad Hatter has her at gunpoint. In "Moe Baby Blues" Maggie requests Moe to read Alice in Wonderland to her. I dont recall homer ever giving lisa an alice in wonderland pop up. Do you have any idea what episode it happened in? Or at least what else happened in the episode?

How is the book "Alice in Wonderland" constructed like a card game?

I have read online that the book is suppose to be constructed like a card game. I do not see the connection between how Alice's adventures in wonderland can be interpreted as a type of card game. If so, what card game is it and how do Alice's adentures relate to it?How is the book "Alice in Wonderland" constructed like a card game?
Alice and Wonderland represents a card game, because the Queen of Hearts, the King of Hearts, and all the soldiers are cards.

Alice Through the Looking Glass represents a chess game, because Alice has to cross the chessboard to become a queen, and the queens and kings and pawns are chess pieces.

  • How do i be an Alice Cullen at my friend's birthday? and any confidence boosters that might work?

The infamous Alice cullen, yes we all know her, any idea how to be more alice-like on behavior or fashion? :)

also, can anyone give me tips on self confidence and swallowing jealousy?

:) any help is appreciated :DHow do i be an Alice Cullen at my friend's birthday? and any confidence boosters that might work?
The black pixie cut is a given, but probably add a grey shiny headband. She likes to wear her ribbon choker. Black tee with ruffles and black skinny jeans with flats should do it. Or a white short sleeve button down with a black vest with the black skinny jeans and flats.

She usually sneaked up on people because she knew what they were going to do it before they did it. She always smiled around her family/friends but was very serious when danger was around.

Anyone can be confident. All you have to realize is that it doesn't matter what other people think about you. Especially if you aren't going to be around them forever. :) With jealousy, that kinda does not deal with Alice, so if there is something more going on with that (some people at the party that are making you jealous), then you just need to suck it up and be Alice for that one evening and work it out later. So they make you jealous, I'm sure there is something that people could be jealous over you for. If one of your friends is hurting you, then you need to talk to them a day or so after the part about it.

In the Disney Alice in Wonderland, Alice is following a path and she comes across these stick creatures that spell out words. What are there names? What are the names of the hairy stick figures in Alice in wonderland when she gets lost?
In the movie, you see a sign 'Don't step on the mome raths', which points to these creatures. So they are supposed to be mome raths.

(They don't spell out words, they form an arrow)

Originally, in the book, they were a different kind of creature: a sort of green pig that has lost his wayWhat are the names of the hairy stick figures in Alice in wonderland when she gets lost?
I don't think they had a name. That scene wasn't part of the original book, it was based on The Jabberwocky (hence The Tulgey Wood) so I always assumed that they were either slithy toves, borogroves, or mome raths.

Cheers. What are the names of the hairy stick figures in Alice in wonderland when she gets lost?
    Jabbersticks.

Possibly not much; in the book world sometimes 100 yrs isn't long enough.

But she can check by you "googling" it, or going to your library's reference desk to ask, or an antique dealer...etc. You get the idea, huh?
Tell your grandmother it would be worth approximately $450 in today's market. Have her go to quotetheprice.com and contact a qualified specialist there (I forget the phone number) and have them send her a certificate of explitiancy.
It depends on the condition and if you can find a Wonderland collector but the advice directly above seems valid.

Is Alice in Wonderland a book of literary merit? What about Pride and Prejudice?

I need books of literary merit. Please confirm whether or not Alice in Wonderland or Pride and Prejudice are and if at all possible list some other books of literary merit. Thanks! Is Alice in Wonderland a book of literary merit? What about Pride and Prejudice?
I am both a former literature major and an Austen fan, as well as a writer. Pride and Prejudice has been established by many literary critics as a book of literary merit. Said merit lies in Austen's expert characterization, good use of plot and great eye for human behavior and heart for conflict, as well as her tremendous humor, spot-on use of irony and sarcasm. Her wit, sometimes mordant, is delicious. So, yeah, this is a book of literary merit as is Sense and Sensibility, and even Emma.

Alice in Wonderland is a classic of children's literature and a definite book of literary merit. It showcases Lewis Carroll's talent for finding the sublime in the mundane and elevating nonsense to an art form. The case could even be argued that it is one of the first fantasy novels. It is also a fantastic (pun intended) study in linguistics and the ambiguity and sometimes arbitrary nature of expression.

Other books of literary merit: Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations. Melville's Moby Dick (though I find it quite boring). The Scarlet Letter; To Kill A Mockingbird; Heart of Darkness; A Confederacy of Dunces; The Kite Runner (being more modern does not make a book less worthy). The Handmaid's Tale; Things Fall Apart; Brave New World; As I Lay Dying; The Sound and The Fury (almost anything by Faulkner). The Sun Also Rises; The Sound of Waves; A Lesson Before Dying; Beloved; Fried Green Tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe; How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents; Huckleberry Finn; The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe; One Hundred Years of Solitude.
Alice in Wonderland has tons of literary merit. There's a whole bunch of interpretations and critical essays on it. Sure, it's quite possibly the strangest book ever written, but it's still one of the greats. There's a reason why it and its sequel is on the "List of 1,001 books to read before you Die." Of course, most people read it just for fun, and believe me, if you read this book in an attempt to interpret it, it's one of the hardest books to understand.

Pride and Prejudice is also has tons literary merit. It's a part of the AP English Literature curriculum at my school. If it had no literary merit, I doubt it would be there.

Also, some other authors with many novels/works of literary merit include:

Jane Austen, Emily Bront毛, Charlotte Bront毛, Charles Dickens, George Orwell, John Steinbeck, Leo Tolstoy... tons. I can't possibly name all authors with great literary works, there are too many.Is Alice in Wonderland a book of literary merit? What about Pride and Prejudice?
These are both important works of literature, but "Alice in Wonderland" is more fun to read. You and Belle might benefit by reading the Martin Gardner-edited "Annotated Alice in Wonderland."

But if you're seeking books based on literary merit (a term that can mean different things to different people, be advised) then some of the books you absolutely must read are:

    Moby Dick

    To Kill a Mockingbird

    The Grapes of Wraith

    Dune

    Huckleberry Finn

    A Christmas Carol

    The Man Who Was Thursday

    The Hound of the Baskervilles

Some people probably wouldn't include "For Whom the Bell Tolls," "The Caine Mutiny," "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Count of Monte Cristo" or "Treasure Island," but I sure would.
Yes, both are. I recommend Alice in Wonderland, it has a boat load of symbolic, and it is all so open ended.

    Others include:

    Lolita by Nabokov

    The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky

    Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton

Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger

Basically, anything considered a "classic". Think Dickens. Think Shakespeare. Is Alice in Wonderland a book of literary merit? What about Pride and Prejudice?
Both of the books you mention are literary books of great merit. Some others: Huckleberry Finn, The Great Gatsby, The Sun Also Rises and The Old Man and the Sea, Oliver Twist, Brave New World.
I would say they both are, though I can't say that I actually enjoy the plots/characters in and of Austen's works.

What is the difference between Rosalie and Alice Cullen from the Twilight Saga?

I am writing a paper comparing and contrasting the two sisters Rosalie and Alice and I need some more ideas. Please try to give me differences AND similarities because it would help to get a lot.

Thank you so much!!!What is the difference between Rosalie and Alice Cullen from the Twilight Saga?
    Alice Cullen:

    - Can see into the future

    - Absolutely loves Bella

    - Is very short, 4'10" (1.5m)

    - Short, black hair.

    - Is a junior at Forks High along with Edward.

    Rosalie Hale:

    - Is very tall and beautiful

    - Envies Bellas mortality (hatred throughout most of what bella sees)

    - Long, Blonde hair.

    - Is a senior at forks high.

    Both:

    - Pale, ice cold skin (as they are vampires, so no wonder)

    - Have eyes that change colour (hmm vampires i think... :])

    - Spend time together designing Rosalies wardrobe

    - Love baseball

    Hope it helps ;)
Rosalie is not at all welcoming to Bella, She doesn't have a strong bond w/ Edward. She is actually part of the Cullen Family b/c she was changed by Carlisle. She does not have any xtra powers. She is said to be extremely beautiful and she was originally intended to hook up w/ Edward but he was never attracted to her which makes her dislike Bella even more. She does not like being immortal and would give everything to have a normal life and be able to get old w/ Emmet and have children.

Alice on the other hand is very sweet. She has a strong bond w/ Edward and takes his side when it comes to his decision of wanting 2 be w/ Bella. She is able to see the future as soon as people make up their minds. She cannot see the werewolves though. She is married to Jasper and came to the Cullen Family to join them. Unlike most of the characters, Alice and Jasper were not transformed by Carlisle. She too is very pretty and elegant. She Likes to organize events such as parties and she also loves to dress Bella up 4 all important occasions and stuff.

Over all.. Alice is sweet and Supportive while Rosalie is arrogant and snobby. What is the difference between Rosalie and Alice Cullen from the Twilight Saga?
    Alice likes Bella. Rosalie doesn't

    Their hair color is different.

Rosalie is really good with fixing cars, Alice sees the future.

Alice openly accepts Bella into the family. Rosalie only accepts her when Renesme comes along.

Alice loves Jasper. Rosalie loves Emmet.

    Alice loves clothing.

They are similar because they both love their family.

    They are both "vegetarians".

They both get over Bella for Edwards sake.

    They both are "sisters"

They are both vampires of course haha
Rosalie is quite vain and cold. Alice is quirky and lovable. Rosalie would do anything to be human again, even give up Emmett. Alice would rather die herself than risk Jasper's life. Rosalie is extremely jealous of Bella because she is human (well was ;D) and because Edward found her more beautiful. Alice adores Bella and thought of her as a sister even before they met. Rosalie has manged to hold on to painful, human memories while Alice remembers nothing of her human life. Rosalie was transformed into a vampire because her fiance and his friends gang raped and left her for dead in the street. When she wakes up as a vampire she sets off to get her revenge and kills them all, saving her fiance for last. Rosalie shows up to kill him wearing a wedding dress. She has never tasted human blood. Alice had been locked in an an asylum and was transformed by an old vampire who wanted to protect her from James. Alice found Jasper and then they set off to find the Cullens because Alice saw that they would one day join their family. Alice is a psychic. Rosalie has no special gift. Rosalie wants to be a mother. Alice doesn't seem to mind that she can never have children. Rosalie was meant for Edward. Alice supported the idea of Bella becoming a vampire. Rosalie tried to talk her out of it. Rosalie acted as Bella's "bodyguard" during her pregnancy, while Alice avoided her because trying to "see" around the baby gave her headaches. Rosalie really wanted Bella to have that baby, even if it killed her. Alice didn't want her best friend to die. What is the difference between Rosalie and Alice Cullen from the Twilight Saga?

Rosalie Lillian Hale was born to a middle-class family in 1915 in Rochester, New York. Her father had a stable job in a bank while her mother was a housewife. Her parents were social climbers and Rosalie, who was extraordinarily beautiful, was the ticket they needed to reach their social aspiration. She was clearly the favorite of her parents, with two younger brothers.

While growing up, Rosalie dreamed of a lavish life--a life with a rich husband and children as beautiful as she was. Her parents influenced her want of material things, which made her vain and conceited. She wanted a big house that someone else would clean, with a large lawn that she would play with her children on.

In Rochester, where she grew up, there was only one family that had what her parents wanted--the Kings. Royce King owned the bank Rosalie's father worked in. His son, Royce II, saw Rosalie for the first time and began dating her. It was a quick courtship and the couple was soon engaged. The engagement went too quickly and wedding plans were made.

Rosalie couldn't help but feel something was missing from her relationship with him, despite the fact that Royce was everything she'd dreamed of. She soon began wanting what her good friend Vera had--a husband who wasn't necessarily rich, but one that loved her and was there for her, and a small baby they could raise together lovingly.

One night she went to Vera's, and while walking home she realized how late it was and she wished that she had called her father to escort her but realized it was silly since the way was so short. As she continued, she saw several drunken men. One of them turned out be Royce. Showing her off to his friends, he ripped off her jacket and the pins from her hair. When she cried out in pain, the men seemed to enjoy it. They proceeded to beat and later rape her.

Royce and his friends left her dying on the streets. Carlisle Cullen came to investigate the grisly scene, found her half-dead and tried to save her humanly. Rosalie had never liked Dr. Cullen or his wife, Esme and her brother, Edward, as he then pretended to be. It had bothered her that the family was more beautiful than she was. Dr. Cullen, who turned out to be a vampire, saved Rosalie that night by turning her into a vampire after he realized she could not survive her wounds as a human. Despite the fact he and his family are vampires, they only fed on the blood of animals, calling themselves "vegetarians". Soon after becoming a vampire, she killed Royce and his friends in vengeance but was careful not to spill a drop of blood, knowing she couldn't resist that. For this particular reason, Rosalie prides herself on never having fed on human blood.

Two years later, while hunting, she found a young man named Emmett being mauled by a bear and ran him back to Carlisle. She begged for him to save the dying Emmett, who reminded her of Vera's little boy Henry, by changing him into a vampire. The two fell in love and were soon married.

Rosalie and Emmett currently reside in Forks, Washington, but they often live away from the family as a married couple. Rosalie is the only one of the Cullen's (except Carlisle) to keep her last name, on account of her not wanting to be a vampire. It is for this reason that she resents Bella for wanting to be a vampire, for "throwing away" everything Rose ever wanted but never had a chance to have.

Rosalie is described as being astoundingly beautiful, even for a vampire. She is tall, statuesque and has wavy blonde hair to the middle of her back. She is physically 18 years old.

Alice Cullen (born Mary Alice Brandon) is the adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme, adoptive sister of Edward, Rosalie, and Emmett, and wife of Jasper. Alice is described as being petite and pixie-like at 4'10", with a graceful gait and hair that is short, spiky, and black. Her special ability is to see the future, an enhanced version of her ability to have premonitions as a human. However, her ability is limited; she is only able to see the outcome of a decision once it is made. Due to this, decisions made in the spur of the moment can not be foreseen. Alice can see futures involving humans and vampires, though is unable to see the futures of werewolves or half-breeds, such as Renesmee. In Breaking Dawn, Alice theorizes that she can see vampires very clearly because she is one, can see humans somewhat less clearly because she was one, and cannot see werewolves or half-breeds because she never was one. Alice is portrayed as being bubbly and optimistic, and loves and cares for Bella like a sister. Her hobbies include shopping, make-overs, and throwing parties. Alice's early history is very vague, as she remembers nothing of her human life and woke up alone as a vampire. It is eventually revealed that she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was kept in an asylum because she had premonitions. Alice was changed by an old vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protec

    Similarities:

They do not feed off human blood.

    They are both beautiful.

    Rosalie Hale

Rosalie Lillian Hale is a character in Twilight, a young adult novel and series written by author Stephenie Meyer. She was born to a middle-class family in Rochester, New York in 1915, and was changed into a vampire after Carlisle Cullen found her after being tortured by her fianc茅 and some of his friends for entertainment in 1933, when she was 18 years old. Rosalie is described as the most beautiful woman in the world.

    Personal History

    Human History

Rosalie Lillian Hale lived in Rochester, NY in 1933; she had two younger brothers, a housewife for a mother, and her father worked at a bank (her father's job helped keep the family wealthy during the Great Depression.) She was born beautiful and constantly praised, making her vain and self-centered. However, unlike her parents, who always wanted more out of life (despite their already elevated status), Rosalie was just happy in the knowledge that she was Rosalie Hale, and that she was beautiful. One day, Rosalie's mother had her dress up to deliver her father's forgotten lunch to his job, in the hopes that the son of the bank's owner would take more interest in Rosalie. It worked. Royce King the Second sent roses to Rosalie and, after making a comment that her eyes were like violets, Rosalie began receiving them, too. Their relationship was solely wooing and for the physical attraction, as Royce was often too busy at the bank. They became engaged and shortly before the wedding, Rosalie visited her good friend Vera, who Rosalie envied for her baby boy. At one point, when Vera's husband kissed Vera, Rosalie finally noticed the lack of love in her relationship with Royce that was so obvious in Vera's. While walking home, shaken by her thoughts about her loveless relationship, Rosalie stumbled across her drunk fiance and his equally-drunk pals; Royce bragged about his fiance's beauty which eventually led to Rosalie being gang raped and beaten.

In an interview with MTV, Nikki Reed, the actress playing Rosalie in the upcoming 'Twilight' movie said this about her character- "Well, Rosalie was raped and beaten by her fiance back about 100 years ago, and she almost died. Carlisle found her, and I guess he couldn't bear to see her bleeding and dying on the ground. And so he changed her into a vampire, because he wanted Edward to have a soul mate. And he thought that we would be great, but for whatever reason, Edward couldn't fall in love with Rosalie. Rosalie really just wanted to be normal; that's what she's always wanted. Even when she was normal, she didn't want to be as beautiful as she was. She didn't want to stand out as much as she does. She just wanted to be like an average young woman who got married and had a family. "

    Vampire Transformation

Rosalie was found by Carlisle Cullen, the scent of blood having attracted Carlisle to the dying Rosalie. He carried her to a room where he made the eighteen year old a vampire, worsening the pain she was already in. She awoke to voices of the Cullens arguing about Carlisle saving Rosalie just because they stumbled across her when she was dying. Upon seeing her reflection, Rosalie's unhappy mood improved with her now vampire beauty. Rosalie soon avenged herself by killing all who were with Royce that night. Having saved Royce for last, Rosalie donned a bridal gown and found her fianc茅 locked in a windowless room with a thick, vault-like door guarded by two men. Killing the guards, Rosalie entered the room where she tortured Royce to death. Rosalie has killed 7 humans in her life, but has yet to have their blood.

    Life in Forks

Rosalie, while living with the Cullens in Washington, plays the role of sister to Jasper Hale (she prefers to use her real last name rather than Cullen). Rosalie found Emmett after he had been attacked by a bear and carried him to Carlisle who then changed Emmett. She and Emmett then got married soon after. She enjoys cars, and owns a red BMW M3 convertible. However, she usually goes to school in Edward's silver Volvo (as all the other Cullens) to try to remain inconspicuous. Carlisle believes that a certain characteristic is intensified once you become a vampire, and Edward believes it to be her tenacity (or pigheadedness), although it is later revealed that is her beauty that was intensified.

    Physical appearance

Rosalie is described as being the most beautiful person in the world, as she is so astoundingly gorgeous, even for a vampire. She is tall and statuesque, with an elegant figure similar to a model's. She has blonde, wavy hair that goes down to the middle of her back and golden eyes like the rest of the Cullens. As with other vampires, she has solid, marble white skin and purple bruises under her eyes. In her human life, Rosalie was described as a woman with beauty, elegance, class, and money. Her eyes were described as being like violets when she was a human.

    Vampiric traits

Rosalie, human or vampire, is portrayed as beautiful, possibly, "the most beaut

Where can I get ALice in Wonderland type of cups for my party?

I'm turning 28 next year and I want 2 make an Alice in Wonderland theme party. But I can't seemed 2 find tea cups that are not vintage, victorian or with alice on them, which are sooo expensive!. I don't want paper or plastic, I want pastel colors in solids, dots, and stripes cups. I also want them 2 be medium and big cups not 2 small so my guests can use them. Kind of round, heart or oval shaped. But I can't find anything! Help!Where can I get ALice in Wonderland type of cups for my party?
Try ebay or amazon. Sometimes you can find interesting things there.Where can I get ALice in Wonderland type of cups for my party?
Talk to someone in a craft store. They can tell you what products you need to paint or transfer the image you want onto your own cups. I've seen them paste cut out paper pictures straight onto plates on tv. You can buy plain ceramic cups at the dollar store. Then you'd just have to find cups you want to use.Where can I get ALice in Wonderland type of cups for my party?
Target has a few options for quirky teacup sets.

They have pastel prints, primary rose prints, or solid colors with heart shaped saucers... check them out.

What is the best version of Alice in Wonderland to buy with good artwork?

I want to find a good version of Alice in wonderland which is a hardcover, with good cover artwork and the original drawings. I don't really like the look of the new versions, they all look bad. I don't want any of the extra bits, just the original story.

Could you please give me a link?

And if possible, is there a through the looking glass like this too?

Thanks in advance! What is the best version of Alice in Wonderland to buy with good artwork?
John Tenniel is the original illustrator of Alice in Wonderland, so if you search him on bn.com or amazon.com you should find all available editions with the original illustrations. Here are two popular ones that are available online and that you can probably find in bookstores:

This one has colored versions of the original illustrations:

  • What does Alice from Alice in Wonderland acomplish in the story?

I have a book project due on Alice in wonderland. It doesn't matter whether you got it from the movie or the book. As long as it is an accomplishment. What does Alice from Alice in Wonderland acomplish in the story?
...Why don't you go try and read it???????

And if it's a BOOK project I'm sure it should be about the book.
haha that book was about drugs no joke...

What does Alice from Alice in Wonderland acomplish in the story?
Pretty much nothing, the book is an illogical sequence of events with little development of plot or charactor, which is what makes it so interesting. It's literary nonsense (which is the genre, not an opinion or evaluation of the book). I suppose you could argue that her lack of fear (and growth) during the trial suggests confidence or adaptation to the illogical wonderland, but it's extremely tenuous.

I would not take anything from the movie for a book project. Not only does it take events from the second book (Through The Looking Glass - i.e. Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee do not belong in Wonderland) but it makes up events, and the books are well known enough for this to be glaringly obvious.
Well there were many things she accomplished, but not on a grand scheme.

For example in the very beginning when she tried to get past the small door that was locked she eventually got past it, that was an accomplishment, and of course I'm sure there's some hidden meaning there in the book.

Now as for the people who says it's nonsense I dont think they've understood too well. I myself can hardly understand any of the hidden meaning but in the book there is an excess of meaning to the book which makes it seem like nonsense but really there is reason for much of what happens. It's just hard to find it.What does Alice from Alice in Wonderland acomplish in the story?
She escaped being axe-murdered by the queen of hearts, and she answered her question, "What could a rabbit possibly be late for?"

Like J. said, it's a nonsense book. She really didn't accomplish anything. It was all just a dream.
    She fed her head.
She learns some form of reasoning after being pushed into a world with no reason.
alice learned that life can be cruel and confusing.

How do I design my bedroom with an Alice in Wonderland theme?

I will be getting a new bedroom in a few months and it is about medium size and I would like the decorating theme to be Alice in Wonderland. The Disneys movie and the scene where alice is in the Golden Afternoon Garden. You know, with the big flowers and mushrooms etc... I have a loft bed and they might build one of those ebcesses windowd where it goes out and theres a window seat. I also have a dresser that is raw wood so I can paint it or stain it. My bed is a light pine wood but I cannot stain or paint it.... sooo.... any ideas to decorate my room? Get yourself a projector. Project images from the movie scene you are interested in right onto the wall. Get bedding colors right from the picture you chose OR go for a bright floral patterned spread. Curtains the same.

I would write across the room as a border the words to the Golden Afternoon song.

Also, I saw a really cute idea at the Christmas Tree shop of a little girl cutout with a mirror as the head. Why not paint a big Alice near your bureau and put a mirror as her face. Remember though that Alice was tiny for this scene so the flowers and mushrooms have to be HUGE in comparison to your Alice.

Good luck. I hope this helps a little. How do I design my bedroom with an Alice in Wonderland theme?
paint the ceiling and upper part of the walls sky blue, and sponge clouds on the ceiling in white. then paint the lower part of the walls green, you could go with a green carpet too. then begin drawing in and painting bright colored flowers on the walls. like the pictures in your picture books. you can use the art bottled acrylics you find in the craft dept at walmart or michaels or hobby lobby. if you need any more help with the flowers let me know, i did a mural all the way around my grand daughters bedroom it included a floor to ceiling tree, flowers, a witches cottage, trees , flowers, shrubs fairies in the tree along with birds and butterflies and dragonflies, a castle on top of a rocky mountain and a wizard and dragon, a pirate ship in a cove and a mermaid on a rock, then i did sunken ships and greek like arcitecture and a sea horse that was swimming through all of that, and a moon and stars on the next section at the top and a cat under the window with a mouse and a grandfather clock went up the corner of the wall next to the window. shes two now and i started before she was born. she lives in the middle of a story book really. she points to what she wants to hear a story about and we have to make one up. oh and there is a frog prince by a little pond too. ribbitt, you can email me here if you like.

    Perfect Question!

I Picture Alice Cullen's Room To Have Lots Of White Candles %26amp; Even Blue Roses Or Red Roses Or Light Blue Or Pink Flowers In Her Room. Her Room Probally Is Neat And Organzied. With A Lavinder Smell To It! Much Light In Her Room And Mirrors! Maybe Light Pink, Or Just White Color For The Walls. A Shedalier (Bad Spelling Sorry), Maybe Antiqe Funiture And Sliver Or Glass Vases For The Flowers.

Alot Of Sparkles Around The Room To! Also Black And Whit Photos Around The Room?

Hopes This Help If I Have Any Other Idea I Will Tell You!
I'm having my room decorated how i imagened Alice Cullens which is; White walls, silver skirting boards, pine furniture, a antique dressing table covered in vases filled with flowers, baby green curtains, a small cream love seat, a light green and silver rug, a four poster bed.

I imagined Alice to have one wall a deep aubergine purple and the rest white like Edward a minamilistic look with built on shelves and modern furniture. Music in the background and a big open glass window that covers the wall. A couple of modern cass with lilies and carnations in. And a unique sofa.

bright colors, modern maybe with some beautiful things that could be a little older. i think she would have pictures of friends or something (hers would have the cullens i imagiine)

it should look very cool, but very unique.

a short little table in a corner next to a brightly colored chair would be nice too. and taller nightstands.

hearts or stars ormaybe even circle patterens on some furniture/lamps/bed to me would give off the alice vibe, but don't over-=do it by putting it too much, remember, she's stylish ^_^

it would have to have a mirror or two of course, for her to admire her wardrobe in ^_^

for her, one of the most important things is the closet lolz, lots of stylish colthes.

i hope that helpsWhat do you imagine Alice Cullens bedroom would look like?
I'm thinking blues and pinks and grays/silvers and purples for Alice. Maybe a canope bed, and some short tables, footrests, or shelves. Easels, and other art supplies, too, you know, for her premonition thing. I think that there should be intricate designs everywhere and hearts too... The walls should be like a navy blue, the ceiling purple, and a pink carpet... And the intricate designs should be gray/silver. I can see it now...
write 'i wish i was a vampire, i wish i was a vampire" all over the walls.

Jk, all white and open, with sparkly silver colors and white antique furniture.
I say bright colors, with different colored furniture, something bright and happy.
Bright colors very modern and a closet bigger than a house
Well there'd be no bed. Have fun sleeping with no bed.
really modern and with bright colors
Full of Red "paint" and a few bones wouldn't hurt.

What are suggestions for Alice In Wonderland themed 17th birthday party?

Im having an Alice In Wonderland themed 17th birthday party.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for what to do.

Im getting a slip n slide [not rlly AIW themed but im a kid at heart]

Any other ideas? What are suggestions for Alice In Wonderland themed 17th birthday party?
Cool. We're doing this for our Homecoming this year. I'm going to just paste you what we're doing and then you can go with it for your event:

What’s been thought of is to have the entrance/ticket area/food tables be like the Mad Hatter’s tea party. We’d have black and white checkered tablecloths on the tables. On the food %26amp; drink table, label the items ‘Eat Me’ and ‘Drink Me’ (I found this woman who makes cotton ribbon with those printed on it that we could cut out and tag the items with, and it’s really cheap). We can stack and glue brightly colored dishes and place them as decorations on the food %26amp; drink table or just have tea pots and cups %26amp; saucers on that table. Then we could have silver, reflective strands at the entrance to the auditorium and have a sign saying 'Enter Through the Looking Glass.’ On either side of the doors we could have bushes (little trees or whatever - fake obviously) with red and white roses, as if they paused while 'painting the roses red.'

The auditorium is where we could run with the playing cards/Queen of Hearts theme. The decorations that have been found as far as this goes include: 18’” playing cards (maybe hung on the walls, from the ceiling, or above the stage), balloons in the shape of the suits, red, white, %26amp; black balloons, red, white, %26amp; black lights, and garland in the shape of the suits. Portia has suggested that we use mirrors to incorporate the Through the Looking Glass theme, which would be awesome, so keep that in mind when it comes to any comments.

We’ve got a cool idea for the announcements and the posters. It’d say:

You are cordially invited to join us in Wonderland for the ---- 2009 Homecoming dance on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Follow the white rabbit to the ticket tables and buy your tickets in advance. Hurry up, don’t be too late or it’ll be off with your heads!

***You can of course edit this to your party

As far as favors go, we can either get bead necklaces in the shapes of the suits in black %26amp; red or get round bead necklaces in black, silver, %26amp; red. The round beads are cheaper, but it’s just a matter of how much money we’re devoting to the decorations on the whole.

I’d also like to try and incorporate the theme into the King and Queen thing, i.e. having the King’s crown be like the Mad Hatter’s top hat and the Queen’s tiara be like Alice’s headband or something. It’d just be for show since we’ve got actual crowns and tiaras, too.

Another cool idea, maybe for your event, would be to have a glass top table and put playing cards underneath the glass. This way you could have the array of Alice in Wonderland things without them cluttering your tables.

Put up signs that say 'This Way' and 'That Way' throughout the house. Put a sign saying 'Enter Wonderland Through the Looking Glass' at the entrance.

You could give out awards to those that incorporate the theme the best into their dress. I've got all of the websites for these things and the prices written down, so if you're interested, contact me and I can send you the list. Everything we're getting is surprisingly inexpensive, but you won't need all of this stuff (unless you like doing things big). We're still in the works right now, so we're getting more each day. I'd love to help and maybe we could exchange ideas. :) Good luck!

What are suggestions for Alice In Wonderland themed 17th birthday party?
    Ooh, fun! :)

Set up: Throw colorful flower petals all over the yard and set up tables for however many guests you will be having. When the guests arrive, give them all a mad hat (lol). String colorful paper lanterns or little twinkly lights all over the yard. Google Disneyland merchandise-maybe you can find a stuffed Cheshire cat or a plush Alice for decoration somewhere.

    Food: Get a whimsical cake

    http://images.google.com/images?sourceid…

and have little snack bowls and tea or punch. You can put the snack items on a table somewhere and have them go and get snacks and drinks when they are hungry.

Games: You could always play croquet, I mean, it fits the theme well, and you could create your own Mad Hats to wear, and then you have the slip 'n' slide, and you could host an Alice in Wonderland trivia contest, you could watch the Alice in Wonderland movie, too.

Prizes/goodie bags: Stuffed Alice in Wonderland characters, little plastic tea cups or tea sets (you can find these at the dollar store or at grocery stores in the little toy aisle), a small rabbit or a watch (doesn't have to be expensive, check thrift shops or dollar stores), the original Alice in Wonderland storybook, you could also give out a copy of the DVD/movie to the winner of croquet or the trivia contest.

Here is Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz's Wedding Cake and theme; they had like a goth Alice in Wonderland wedding:

OMG I LOVE ALICE IN WONDERLAND THEMES! For starters you could call it a Mad Tea Party or at least have a table with a sign that says Mad Tea Party. Have the table covered in wild colors and have iced tea (I usually suggest Long Island Tea for those over 21) and have difference flavor shots to put in it. At the entrance to the party have a sign that says the Rabbit Hole. Use cards for decorations (centerpeices ect) too since the Queen of Heart's guards are cards. I could go on and on...message me if you want to.What are suggestions for Alice In Wonderland themed 17th birthday party?
Decorate your Wonderland %26amp; be creative

~decorate with over-sized playing cards and cut-out hearts %26amp; a cut out of the caterpillar on the mushroom with a fog machine

~play the music from The Alice in Wonderland movie soundtrack

    ~costume contest

~2make mushroom treats, take large marshmallows, apply a dot of melted chocolate or icing and then place a vanilla wafer on top
    OHHHHHHH such good fun

my friend's sister did that for her 18th

they have a massive estate at the back of their house so it was beautiful

make sure everyone comes in costume first of all

beautiful fairy tale food as well, cakes and buns and cocktail sausages

loads of bright colours and table settings etc

also make everyone collect their food and sit down and then do it like the mad hatter's tea party in the story

ring a bell and make everyone move round

my friend's sister did that and it was really good
    croquet

finger sandwiches and tea (probably iced since its summer)

have foods like in the movie (buttered bread or yellow cake baked in a bread pan),

    dress up

have a pink path (like in the forest) to the slip and slide

    have a hearts championship

blackmail a younger sibling into dressing up like the white rabbit

I like the slip and slide-kind of like going down the rabbit tunnel
Since getting everyone in costume can be tricky, how about providing some masquerade masks with the rabbit and odd faces from AIW on it. I think Oriental trading has them. That can really help keep the fun mood of the party. For food, I suggest going to sams and getting everything in mini form. Hope you have a great party!
for your favors i would do either packs of playing cards or tea bags.

you should decorate with mushrooms and have a mushroom cake. Use pictures from the original alice in wonderland book. if its hot serve iced tea , instead of hot. wear a cute blue dress %26amp; apron.

have a scavenger hunt and create clues from the story.

    for favors %26amp; ideas check

    happy birthday!!!
I think you should get some crazy colorful Mad Hatter hats for everyone to wear. These are pretty girly. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?lis…

try this site there are really cool details

    http://www.teenpartyideas.com/html/sweet…
    Awesome.

Make sure the decorations are really really bright, and kind of trippy...

It kind of depends on how all out you want to go...

Red rose bushes would be awesome.

    Definitely have cupcakes:

    http://novapages.com/ideablog/wp-content…

    And the classic: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2073/2299…

Make sure you label the cakes 'eat me'. Put all drinks in cute spotty/stripey/bright teapots you have picked up in charity shops and tie a cardboard tag to their handles that says 'drink me'.

A pinyata would be fun, and would fit with the quirky, trippy decorations.

Dot the room/outdoor area with colourful helium balloons

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3647/3517… (obviously your room won't be so tacky :P)

It would be cool if you could locate some character balloons as well - even just a cat, rabbit and a large hat... So the presence of the characters can kind of be felt :P

If no balloons, laterns (see the website below) look fantastic. Make sure they are mismatched.

Make placecards out of cards (hearts, preferably), by sticking white rectangles with the person's name written in red or black onto the side of the card with the numbers and symbols on it. Make sure it is all straight and nice, or it will look tacky.

As for chairs, mismatched chairs would look cool, and of course one at the end of the table should be far grander than the rest (where you sit, of course), like this one:

    http://www.sweetpeaandwillow.com/blog/up…
    ~Mad Hatter Tea Party.

~Those biscuits that make you grow and shrink.

~Something to do with playing cards.

~Croquet.. not sure how you spell it..

~Watch the movie. The cartoon one or the real people one. Both sorta good.

~Get an awesome cake with pink icing.

~Bribe a sibling to get covered with toilet paper and have your friends throw waterballoons at him/her.

~Melt a bunch of chocolate bars and have your friends guess which is which. Then eat them at the end. Melted chocolate DOES taste good.

~Have different food. Not stuff like party pies and sausage rolls but more like fruit kebabs, cocktail sausages on skewers, mini cupcakes or sushi etc.

And most importantly HAVE FUN. =D

    Good evening, Mrs. Audience,

    And Mr. Audience, too;

I hope you're glad to see me,

And will like me 'fore I'm through.

I'm here to bid you welcome,

    I'm sure I like your style;

    We'll soon become right friendly

    If you will only smile.

    I'll try to entertain you

    With monologue and rhyme--

But if you won't assist me

    We'll have a dreadful time.

The world is full of worry,

Let's forget it for a while,

And take a trip to Funland--

So stretch your mouth and smile.

    Some speakers talk of trouble,

    Of pessimistic creeds,

    But just an S-M-I-L-E [spell]

Is all the old world needs.

    Be gay, enthusiastic,

    And cheerful all the while,

    Forget your gloom and worries,

    And smile, smile, smile!

And now the ice is broken,

We're friends, that's how it stands,

And if you feel as I do,

You'll tell me with your hands, [Pantomimes applause]

With song and jest and story,

    I shall an hour beguile;

I'll do my best to please you,

    If you'll smile, smile, smile!

  • What influenced Alice in Wonderland, and what are some examples of influences alice had on popular culture?

What are some aspects that led up to and came from the writings of Alice in Wonderland. For example, the strict victorian mannerism and rhymes that the girls had to learn led up to Luis Carrol making fun of them by making rhymes like "Twinkle Twinkle little bat". And an example of an influence that Alice had is the song that Jefferson Airplane wrote about it. Also any links would be greatly appreciated. What influenced Alice in Wonderland, and what are some examples of influences alice had on popular culture?
The book was told originally to the real alice (liddell) and her two sisters on a boat trip of the thames river. Carroll was known his awkwardness and grew quite attached to alice, as a result she was the muse. He stemmed her personality and wit for Alice in the book as well as many other well known people around oxford (the lory was lorina, oldest sister, the eaglet, edit youngest sister, the dodo was Carroll himself from a nickname he had as a child because of the stutter)

The nonsense part was his own interpretation and to add humor to the book, the speach was typical Victorian era except for the specifically nonsensical words, and the logic and riddles were who he was *mathematic and logistics lecturer)

The history goes that after hearing the story, Alice begged Carroll (Dodgeson) to write the book so she could enjoy for ages to come. The original, Alices Adventures Underground was handwritten and given to Alice. Few years later, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland hit the printer.

Carroll was in love with Alice (yet to be actually proven but all evidence still in existance points there) and he didnt actually partake in drug use until after he was exiled from the Liddell family because of his close relationship with Alice. What influenced Alice in Wonderland, and what are some examples of influences alice had on popular culture?
Influences on 'Alice in Wonderland': opium and a fondness for young girls

Contributions to pop culture: anything that talks about following a white rabbit. Off the top of my head, there are references to this in 'The Matrix' and 'Lost'.

How does Alice in Wonderland relate to the presidential campaign?

I don't quite remember the story but the selection of Sarah Palin for the Vice Presidency evokes memories of Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter for me. Am I off base?

How does Alice in Wonderland relate to the presidential campaign?
Yes, it is all very surreal to me too. I think the Mad Hatter is the presidential candidate that chose her for VP.How does Alice in Wonderland relate to the presidential campaign?

How should I accessorize and Alice in Wonderland costume?

I'm going to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland for halloween this year. There's another girl who's wearing the same costume as me, and she purposely picked it out after she knew I was going to be Alice. I want to look just as good as her. Should I wear black classic converse, or black flats? What should I do for makeup and hair? I have medium/long brown hair and olive skin. I'm 13, so it has to be appropriate. Thanks so much! How should I accessorize and Alice in Wonderland costume?
an emo twist is always good :)

checkers wrist bands, ripped black and white tights, over exaggerated makeup, maybe a pocket watch, but keep the hair original, long and curly, but it would be super awesome if u found like a head band with like spades and hearts on it. oh and fingerless gloves. be girly, but in a fierce way :))How should I accessorize and Alice in Wonderland costume?
wear a red or baby blue headband with a big bow and do big exagerated curls. also draw a small hearts or spade or whatever on your cheek and wear sparkly makeup. wear black flat with tighs ( it might be cold) this outfit will be appropriate and look super cute! How should I accessorize and Alice in Wonderland costume?
Just make sure everyone around you is on shrooms and there'll be no need to accesorize.
